17 Kurdish children have began a hunger strike in a Mersin jail in Turkey. There are 2,221 children, mostly Kurds, in Turkish jails according to the National Judicial Network in Turkey. The children were picked up on a funeral for a Kurdish fighter.
They are protesting that they have not even been charged yet remain incarcerated! Children should be following a healthy diet of veg and fruit and have healthy exercise to help them grow not be forced to go on hunger strike because they have been put in prison without trial! Follow the petition and sign it as soon as possible!!!
According to the HRW World Report 2012, the non-resolution of the Kurdish issue remains the single greatest obstacle to progress on human rights in Turkey.
